1:1 Wellspring Mentorship

$200/hour || $750/4 hours— Ever had a mentor, a therapist or a coach who suggested tactics or perspective that made you roll your eyes? (On the inside, of course.) Don’t blame them. They usually haven’t been on the front lines fighting for their lives. And unless they’ve been sick and dealt with the byzantine complexity of actually living with illness, the solutions offered tend to be impossible or outlandish. The answer is to work with someone who knows the constraints of what’s do-able, who understands that the suggestions need to be grounded in the reality of being sick and weak, and who gets the mental fog that usually goes along with illness. With Wellspring Mentoring you’ll discover specific strategies to deal with the tenderness, grief and fear of living with an illness.

1:1 Meditation Education

$200/hour || $750/4 hours— You think you can’t meditate because you can’t sit. Or because you’ve got too many distracting physical sensations – dizziness, nauseousness, queasiness. Or because the anger or despair you feel at your predicament is so strong, you’re afraid that if you’re quiet those feelings will overwhelm you. So you’ve got good reasons for not meditating. Plus, you don’t believe you’re going to get anything out it. But you can face your experience of physical sensations and mental thoughts without drowning. Through Meditation Education you will create a safe container and a supported way to position your body, so you can benefit from meditation.

$200/hour || $550/3 hours — You know that eating the right foods will nourish you. And you get that food can be medicine. But you don’t have the energy to get groceries into your home. And if you do manage to get the virtuous vegetables and fresh fruits into your fridge, the next obstacle is that you don’t have the wherewithal to actually prepare your meals. You’re tired of not being able to eat well and to harness the power of food. Plus, you hate watching that produce rot away in your fridge.

1:1 Yoga Therapy

$200/hour || $750/4 hours— How can yoga work for you? Some days moving is good; some days moving is painful, if not impossible. It’s really hard to tell until you get started. Sometimes movement is better for the stagnation in the body and stillness is unbearable. Other times, you can’t do the yoga; the yoga needs to do you. We’ll examine your difficulties and suggest ways to arrange your body so that your body can do it’s best work.  And so you can harness the immense healing power of yoga, no matter what your body is like. With yoga therapy you will master a repertoire of yoga poses so that you can set your own body up for unfolding, opening and healing.

$200/hour —  Using the bullet journal technique, you'll learn how to, in the words of creator Ryder Carroll, track the past, order the present and design the future. When you're ill setting goals can seem like a Pollyannaish endeavor; we feel like God is laughing at our plans. The beauty of this planning method is its flexibility.  That nimbleness and adaptability makes the bullet journal method the most responsive life planner to our changing needs and supports us in living our best life.  We don’t need to manage our time; our most precious resource is our energy. Use bullet journaling to make sure you are living as deliberately and delightfully as possible.

Redesign + Restore :: How to BUllet Journaling for HEALING

Now you may have heard of bullet journalling and know it’s reputation as a productivity and time managing tool. When you live with illness, productivity is not your priority - surviving is. And time is the one thing you have plenty of! That’s not what needs managing.

But as Ryder Carroll notes in his recent book on the method he developed, first and foremost, a critical aspect of the methodology is that it “helps us cultivate a better sense of ourselves.” and helps “people reconnect with themselves and the things they care about.” And in fact, in those ways, bullet journaling is very much like yoga for the mind!

I’ve written this guides especially for those who live with the myriad challenges of a chronic illness - whether it’s handling a flare, maintaining a routine amid mercurial symptoms, moving your body despite pain and stiffness, or surviving the holidays.

That’s not to say that, occasionally, those blessed with health are not occasionally afflicted with a bout of insomnia or would not benefit from self-massage.

Still, when you’re sick, we are forced to prioritize our health and wellness. And at times we face special challenges and obstacles such as physical discomfort when sitting still to meditate or making a plan amid brain fog.

These guides will be rolled out over the next few months, hopefully one a month.
